Terms of Service
CrossCheck AI — A Platilus Product
1. Acceptance
By accessing or using platilus.com and the CrossCheck AI service ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Platilus LLC.
2. Service Description
CrossCheck AI is an AI verification tool that uses the Adversarial Scenarios Method (ASM) to cross-check AI-generated content across multiple language models. The Service provides trust scores and identifies areas of agreement and disagreement between models.
Important: The Service is an informational tool. Verification results are NOT a substitute for professional judgment, expert review, legal advice, medical advice, financial advice, or independent verification. You are solely responsible for any decisions or actions you take based on the Service's output.
AI Transparency Disclosure (EU AI Act): CrossCheck AI uses third-party artificial intelligence models to generate verification results. All outputs — including trust scores, disagreement analyses, and recommendations — are AI-generated and must be reviewed by a qualified human before being relied upon for any decision. CrossCheck AI is classified as a limited-risk AI system under the EU AI Act (Regulation 2024/1689).
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
4. User Accounts
4.1. Account creation
To access the Service, you must create an account with a valid email address. You are responsible for providing accurate information and keeping it up to date.
4.2. Account security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You must notify us immediately at [email protected] if you become aware of unauthorized access to your account.
4.3. Account deletion
You may request account deletion at any time by contacting us or through your account settings. Upon deletion, your data will be handled according to our §8 of our Privacy Policy (Data Retention): account data deleted within 30 days, pseudonymized session data retained per schedule.
4.4. Data export
You may request an export of your personal data at any time (GDPR Art. 20). Contact [email protected].
5. Service Modes and Pricing
5.1. Service modes
CrossCheck AI offers two modes of operation:
- BYOK (Bring Your Own Key): You provide your own API keys for third-party AI providers. Your data passes through our Thin Proxy in transit only (see §6 and Privacy Policy §2).
- Hosted: We provide API access to AI providers on your behalf. Your data is processed on our servers with personal information removed before forwarding (see Privacy Policy §3.3).
We may offer free and paid tiers with different feature sets and usage limits. Current plans, pricing, and feature details are available at platilus.com/pricing.
5.2. Payment terms
- All prices are in US Dollars (USD)
- Subscription plans renew automatically unless cancelled before the end of the billing period
- One-time purchases are non-recurring
- Enterprise agreements are governed by individually negotiated terms
5.3. Cancellation and refunds
- Subscriptions may be cancelled at any time; access continues until the end of the current billing period
- First-time subscribers may request a full refund within 14 calendar days of their first payment
- One-time purchases may be refunded within 30 calendar days if fewer than 10 verification sessions have been used
- After the applicable refund period, or if usage thresholds are exceeded, all payments are non-refundable
5.4. Fair use
Plans described as "unlimited" are subject to a fair use policy. We reserve the right to throttle or suspend accounts that generate session volumes significantly exceeding typical usage patterns (more than 100x the median usage for the plan tier), after providing 7 calendar days' written notice.
5.5. Price changes
We may change pricing with at least 30 days' written notice. Existing paid plans will not be affected until the next renewal cycle.
6. API Keys (BYOK)
CrossCheck AI supports a Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) model for accessing third-party AI services:
- Storage: Your API keys are encrypted in your browser using the WebCrypto API and stored in IndexedDB. They cannot be extracted by third-party scripts.
- Transit: Keys pass through our Thin Proxy server in transit only — the proxy does not inspect, read, log, store, or modify request content. This network relay function does not constitute "processing" under GDPR Art. 4(2). See Privacy Policy §2 for details.
- Recovery: We cannot read, store, or recover your API keys. If you lose access to your browser's storage, your keys are irrecoverable.
- Costs: You are solely responsible for API usage and associated costs with third-party providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Microsoft Azure, etc.).
- Provider compliance: You must comply with the terms of service of each API provider whose keys you use.
- Supported providers: BYOK mode supports API keys from approved providers: Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft Azure (including Azure-hosted models such as DeepSeek R1). Direct connections to API endpoints in jurisdictions without adequate data protection (including PRC-based endpoints) are not currently supported. See our Privacy Policy §7.2 and /legal/providers for the current list of supported providers.
- Sanctions compliance: You represent that you will not use the Service to route API requests to any provider that is subject to sanctions by the United States (OFAC SDN List), European Union (EU Consolidated List), United Kingdom, or other applicable jurisdiction. We reserve the right to disable affected providers without notice.
- Applicable provider policies include: Anthropic Acceptable Use Policy (anthropic.com/legal/aup), OpenAI Usage Policies (openai.com/policies/usage-policies), Google Gemini Terms of Service (ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms), and Microsoft Azure Terms (azure.microsoft.com/support/legal).
- Liability: We are not liable for charges incurred through your API keys, including charges resulting from unauthorized access to your keys.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of applicable laws
- Submit content that is harmful, abusive, threatening, or violates the rights of others
- Use the Service to bypass or circumvent AI safety systems of any provider
- Submit content designed to extract training data from AI models (prompt injection attacks)
- Generate content that violates AI provider acceptable use policies
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or extract source code from the Service
- Use automated scraping, bots, or data extraction tools against the Service
- Interfere with, disrupt, or create an undue burden on the Service's infrastructure
- Resell, redistribute, or sublicense access to the Service without our written permission
- Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation
- Use the Service to generate, store, or distribute malware or malicious code
- Systematically use the Service as a component in developing, training, or operating any product or service that replicates CrossCheck AI's core verification functionality, without our express written permission. This does not restrict independent evaluation, academic research, or journalism about the Service.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for violation of these Terms.
8. Data Flywheel and Product Improvement
To improve CrossCheck AI, we collect pseudonymized structured data from verification sessions. Full details are in our Privacy Policy §6. By using the Service, you acknowledge that:
- Pseudonymized disagreements (with personal information removed) may be used to improve verification accuracy, train evaluation models, and develop domain-specific reliability scores
- This data is never sold to third parties and never shared with AI providers for their model training
- You can opt out at any time in your account settings
- A zero-retention option is available for users who require absolutely no data collection — our server will not record that a session occurred. See platilus.com/pricing for details.
- Opting out does not affect your access to or quality of the Service
9. Intellectual Property
9.1. Your content
You retain all intellectual property rights to content you submit through the Service (task text, documents, prompts). We claim no ownership over your inputs or the verification results generated for you.
9.2. Our property
The Service, its methodology (Adversarial Scenarios Method / ASM Protocol), software, design, branding (CrossCheck AI, Platilus), documentation, and all original content (including research articles and marketing materials) are the property of Platilus LLC and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
9.3. Data license
You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use pseudonymized, de-identified session data (structured disagreements with personal information removed) for product improvement purposes (Data Flywheel), subject to your opt-out right described in §8. This license survives termination of your account for data collected prior to termination.
9.4. Research articles
Research articles published on platilus.com are free to read but may not be republished, reproduced, or distributed in whole or substantial part without written permission from Platilus LLC.
10. Limitation of Liability
Verification results provided by CrossCheck AI are informational only and are not guaranteed to be accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- Platilus LLC is not liable for any decisions, actions, or outcomes based on verification results
- Platilus LLC is not liable for the accuracy, reliability, or availability of third-party AI models used in the verification process
- Our total aggregate liability for all claims arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to Platilus LLC for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100 USD, whichever is greater
- In no event shall Platilus LLC be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to: loss of profits, data, business opportunities, or goodwill
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for: death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot be excluded by applicable law.
11. Third-Party Services
CrossCheck AI depends on third-party AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Microsoft Azure, and others). You acknowledge that:
- We are not responsible for the availability, performance, accuracy, or content of third-party AI services
- Third-party providers may change, deprecate, or discontinue their APIs, models, or services without notice to us
- Service interruptions caused by third-party provider outages are not a breach of these Terms
- You are responsible for compliance with each provider's terms of service when using their services through CrossCheck AI (particularly in BYOK mode where you provide your own keys)
- Third-party providers have their own privacy policies governing how they handle data
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Platilus LLC, its officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:
- Content you submit through the Service
- Your misuse of API keys or violation of API provider terms
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any applicable law or regulation
- Any third-party claim arising from your use of the Service
13. Termination
13.1. By us
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, including for violation of these Terms. For termination without cause, we will provide at least 14 days' notice when commercially reasonable. We may also terminate accounts that have been inactive for 24 or more consecutive months, with 30 days' written notice via email before termination.
13.2. By you
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us or through account settings.
13.3. Effect of termination
Upon termination:
- Your right to use the Service ceases immediately
- Account data will be deleted within 30 days
- Pseudonymized session data already collected will be retained per the Privacy Policy §8 retention schedule
- Your API keys are stored locally in your browser and are not affected by account termination
- Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including §9, §10, §12, §16) shall survive
14. Service Availability
14.1. Beta period
During beta, the Service is provided "as-is" with no uptime guarantees. Features, pricing, and availability may change without notice. Beta access does not guarantee future access to the production service.
14.2. General availability
After leaving beta, we will make commercially reasonable efforts to maintain Service availability. However, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or secure access, particularly given our dependency on third-party AI APIs.
14.3. Maintenance
We may temporarily suspend access for maintenance, updates, or security purposes. When possible, we will provide advance notice of planned maintenance.
15. Force Majeure
Neither party shall be liable for failure or delay in performance due to causes beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to: AI provider outages, API changes, or model deprecation; natural disasters, epidemics, or pandemics; government actions, sanctions, or regulatory changes affecting AI services; internet infrastructure failures, cyberattacks, or telecommunications disruptions; war, terrorism, civil unrest, or labor disputes.
The affected party shall notify the other party promptly and resume performance as soon as reasonably practicable.
16. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
16.1. Governing law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Georgia, without regard to conflict of law principles. Nothing in these Terms shall deprive you of the protection afforded by mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence that cannot be derogated from by agreement.
16.2. Dispute resolution
For disputes under €5,000, we encourage resolution through informal negotiation. Before initiating legal proceedings, either party shall send a written notice of the dispute and engage in good-faith negotiation for at least 30 days.
16.3. Jurisdiction
Any disputes that cannot be resolved informally shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Tbilisi, Georgia.
16.4. Individual resolution
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you and Platilus LLC agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted on an individual basis, not as a class action, mass arbitration, or representative proceeding. You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration against Platilus LLC. Nothing in this clause restricts your rights under mandatory consumer protection laws of your jurisdiction, including the right to participate in representative actions where available under applicable law.
17. Export Controls
AI services may be subject to export control laws and regulations. You represent that you are not located in, and will not use the Service from, any country or region subject to comprehensive sanctions. You are solely responsible for compliance with applicable export control and sanctions laws.
18. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be replaced with a valid provision that most closely reflects the original intent.
19. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and (where applicable) Data Processing Agreement, constitute the entire agreement between you and Platilus LLC regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements, understandings, and communications. No waiver of any provision shall be deemed a further or continuing waiver.
20. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
- Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users with at least 30 days' notice
- Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms
